Backing One of Bittensor's Clearest Success Stories
Innerworks is one of the most interesting companies we've come across in a while, and one we'll admit we overlooked at first. It's a cybersecurity startup built around device intelligence and fraud prevention, and it's been in the Bittensor ecosystem since December 2024, operating RedTeam (subnet 61).
It wasn’t until a few months ago that we took a deeper look at Redteam, after seeing they’d started protecting one of the largest messaging platforms in the world, with over 100m daily active users.
The more time we spent with the team, learning Innerworks' business and how the Redteam subnet worked, the more we were struck by the relationship between the two. Innerworks built RedTeam to attack its own security systems. Miners on the subnet get paid for breaking their detection algorithms, and every time one succeeds, the system patches the hole and pushes the fix to production.
Essentially, Redteam has become an arena where some of the best adversarial hackers show up and get paid for breaking Innerwork’s defenses, giving the company real-time visibility into the bleeding edge of attacks.
Redteam is Innerworks’ whole edge. It's how Innerworks beats competitors who can't move this fast, it's how they keep winning high-profile clients, and it's why they just closed the biggest investment round in their history.
The team understands that the higher the subnet token’s price, the larger the rewards to the hackers, which draws sharper hackers in that have more capital to throw at finding exploits - which matters more than ever in a test-time compute era. Innerworks has been buying the Redteam token to support this flywheel and plans to continue in perpetuity. And they just locked every token they hold, along with 90% of all future emissions headed to their wallet.
We couldn't be more excited to partner with RedTeam at this point in their story. They're hitting an inflection point, growing their customer base fast and pulling business away from incumbents who've had the space to themselves for years.
This is one of the clearest success stories we've seen in Bittensor. A company whose entire structural edge exists because of its subnet.
